EcoHopeful's 8Rs

Examining ourselves in relation to the changing climate is not only healthy for our own mental-emotional health, it’s necessary for our very survival.

 

Here are 8 practices (all beginning with R) to keep you going in the fight against the climate crisis!

Routine

And balance- keep a routine (esp with sleeping and waking) to keep you balanced

Regulate

Keep your body and nervous system regulated/balanced- gratitude (what are you grateful for?), breathing (inhale, exhale longer than inhale), brief meditation (even just brief time alone in silence), spend time in nature. Identify what you do to care for yourself around difficult events and facts connected with the changing climate.

Recognize

your values and identity- What is one value that holds you strong in your identity?

Remember

your purpose and have hope (this is not a passive hope, but an active one)

R & R & R

(Rest, relax, reinvigorate) self-care, fun, laughter, wonder- What do you do for self- care?

Reconnect

with your people- who do you connect with? You are not alone.

Respond

What can you do for the climate? For the planet? For raising awareness?
